Govt. committed to all-round development of State, Amaravati, says A.P. Legislative Assembly Speaker Ayyanna Patrudu

Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to achieve all-round development and implement various schemes with the core objectives of resolving public grievances and ensuring public welfare.

Mr. Ayyanna Patrudu advised the people’s representatives to be responsible in their conduct and bring the people’s issues to the attention of the State Legislature for sorting them out.

Participating as chief guest in the 80th Independence Day celebrations at the Andhra Pradesh Legislature Complex on Saturday, Mr. Ayyanna Patrudu called for collective efforts to overcome financial and administrative challenges being faced since bifurcation of the unified State.

Safeguarding the freedom won through the sacrifices of great leaders and protecting democratic values would be considered as paying real tributes to them, he observed.

Mr. Ayyanna Patrudu exhorted people to rededicate themselves to making Andhra Pradesh a leader in all fields, and sought the people’s cooperation for the construction of the capital city of Amaravati.

He recalled the sacrifices made by several great leaders belonging to Andhra Pradesh like Alluri Sitarama Raju, ‘Andhra Kesari’ Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu, and Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, and appealed to the people to strive to realise the ideals espoused by them through immense personal struggles.

The Speaker said the government laid special focus on developing Amaravati as a model capital city and that residential quarters would be completed and allotted to over 300 MLAs and MLCs soon.

Deputy Speaker K. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju, Government Whip Yarlagadda Venkata Rao and State Legislature Secretary-General Suryadevara Prasanna Kumar were among those present.

Collective responsibility

Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council Chairman K. Moshenu Raju said India’s future was reliant on the talent and skills of the youth, not caste, religious or political differences, and stressed the need to prepare them for global competition by imparting quality education and equipping them with skills and latest technologies.

Hoisting the Tricolour on the Council premises, Mr. Moshenu Raju said building a bright future for the youngsters and ensuring social security for the elderly were a collective responsibility, and expressed concern that even after 80 years of Independence, people in some areas were struggling for basic amenities, education, healthcare and employment.

He noted that it was due to the sacrifices made by many great leaders that the people were enjoying freedom and democratic rights, and emphasized that it was the responsibility of every citizen to remember their sacrifices and protect democratic and constitutional values.
