Mumbai:

Rates of precious metals in futures continued their upward trend on Monday, August 10, 2026, as weaker-than-expected US Jobs data reduced expectations for Interest rate hikes in the past week. The gold October 5 contract on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) opened with a drop of Rs 27 or 0.36 per cent at Rs 1,51,793 per 10 grams against the previous close of Rs 1,51,820. However, it later picked up momentum and touched an intraday high of Rs 1,52,982, a gain of Rs 1,162, or 0.76 per cent. Last seen, it was trading at Rs 1,52,765 with a gain of Rs 945 or 0.62 per cent. In between, it touched the low of Rs 1,51,461.

On the MCX, the yellow metal futures for December 2026 were up by Rs 1,084 or 0.71 per cent to trade at Rs 1,54,271 per 10 grams in business turnover of 7,881 lots.

“MCX Gold is trading above Rs 151,500, facing resistance near its recent seven-week high after a sharp breakout. Immediate resistance is placed at Rs 1,52,000–1,52,600 near previous highs, and a decisive move above could push toward Rs 1,53,000–1,53,500. Immediate support is seen at Rs 1,51,500–1,51,000, followed by stronger support at Rs 1,50,000–1,49,500. Price continues to hold comfortably above all the major moving averages (20/50/100/200 EMA), highlighting a strong improvement in the medium-term trend, though RSI has moved into overbought territory, reflecting possible near-term pressure. Bias remains constructive above Rs 1,52,000, whereas a decline below Rs 1,51,000 may invite short-term profit booking,” said Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money.
