The State government on Saturday issued an order fixing ₹3,300 per tonne of sugarcane with a recovery rate at 11.25% and ₹3,200 for a tonne of cane with a recovery rate at 10.25%.
The order was issued after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s extensive discussions with sugar factory owners and farmers’ representatives on Friday.
Sugarcane growers were on strike in Belagavi and other districts of north Karnataka seeking ₹3,500 per tonne of cane.
Of the ₹3,300 per tonne of sugarcane, ₹3,250 will be paid by factory owners and ₹50 by the government.
Similarly, for sugarcane with a recovery rate at 10.25%, factory owners would pay ₹3,150 and the government would pay ₹50 (total ₹3,200), the order said.
