‘Gem Granites’ Veeramani POCSO case: Former employee arrested for withholding video from police

The Central Crime Branch has arrested a former employee of Gem Granites for allegedly possessing a video, which purportedly showed industrialist R. Veeramani engaging in an obscene act with a minor girl, and failing to inform the police about it.

Industrialist and Gem Granites founder R. Veeramani and his alleged accomplices Shanthi and Mahendra Simhan were arrested on August 29, 2026, and remanded in Puzhal Central Prison after a case was registered by the Central Crime Branch for paedophilia.

The police said that in connection with the case, Ganeshan, who had worked at Veeramani’s Gem Granites for 23 years and is currently employed with Balaji Global Enterprises, was arrested for possessing, on his mobile phone, a video purportedly showing Veeramani engaging in an obscene act with the minor girl and failing to inform the police about it. He was produced before a court and remanded in Puzhal Central Prison as per the court’s orders.

Further investigation is under way to ascertain who sent the obscene video to Ganeshan and the circumstances behind his failure to inform the police about it.
