Rayachoti police on Monday busted a major ganja racket and seized 34 kg of cannabis worth over ₹10.2 lakh. They arrested 14 persons, including a woman, during the special operation at Kalakada mandal in Annamayya district.

The police said that the operation was launched based on reliable information. Acting swiftly, the special party raided a hideout at Bangaruvandlapalli on the Nadimicherla–Kottapalli road in the morning. The accused were reportedly making arrangements to shift the contraband into a vehicle. When the police discovered the group, they tried to flee, but were apprehended by the special party, who took them into custody.

The flash raid further led to the seizure of an autorickshaw, three motorcycles, and 12 mobile phones. Preliminary investigation revealed that the main accused, Shaik Basha of Annamayya district, had been procuring ganja stocks from Odisha, operating through a distribution channel across the district.

The Madanapalle sub-division police registered a case and took up further investigation. The accused were sent to remand.
