Devotees covering a large eco-friendly idol of Lord Ganesh installed in Chintalbasti area in Hyderabad on Wednesday, ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi on September 14.

The Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi (BGUS) has announced that Ganesh idol installations across the city will commence on September 14, while the mass immersion procession will be held on September 25.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, BGUS president Rajasekhar Reddy, general secretary R. Shashidhar and other office-bearers said immersion arrangements had been made at 150 designated locations, including Vinayaksagar (Hussainsagar), Saroornagar Lake, Ameenpur Lake and Kapra Lake, besides about 110 ponds.
The organisers said extensive preparatory work had been undertaken over the past three months in coordination with the police, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, and other government departments to ensure smooth conduct of the festivities.
They stressed that traditional devotional and cultural programmes associated with the festival should be facilitated within the framework of existing regulations. The Samithi also appealed to the authorities against imposing “unnecessary” restrictions on the use of sound systems during celebrations.
The festival would generate significant economic activity and benefit local artisans and people engaged in traditional occupations, the organisers said. They added that cultural programmes related to ‘Vande Mataram’, Telangana Liberation Day, Sant Ravidas and other themes would be organised during the festival period.
