A marquee real estate deal unfolded in Chennai’s ultra-exclusive Boat Club, where land is scarce and every address carries a premium. The transaction involved the sale of a 7.65-ground prime residential property, ‘Anita’s Apartment’, owned by the Brij Mohan Reddy family, to Girish Mathrubootham, Founder and Executive Chairman of Freshworks, who acquired it for his personal residence.

According to market sources, the deal value is ₹211 crore. It is learnt that Global Adjustments (GA), a luxury real estate advisory firm, facilitated this deal.

They represented both the buyer and the seller, both of whom could not be reached for comments. “The registration happened last week,” said a source aware of the development. “Today, owning even a small parcel of land at Boat Club is a luxury. Everyone wants a Boat Club address, but with virtually no land left for development, every transaction has become a prized acquisition,” the source added.

At Boat Club, prices are dictated by what sellers command rather than conventional market benchmarks. The neighbourhood continues to be Chennai’s most coveted address, attracting top corporate leaders, industrialists and high-net-worth individuals. A few years ago, real estate developer Ceebros acquired an 8.25-ground property in this area.
