Hours after being detained and questioned by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) for allegedly circulating fabricated documents and manipulated content on social media, RTI activist Snehamayi Krishna is facing yet another criminal case — this time at the Basaveshwara Nagar Police Station.

Krishna was earlier questioned and later released on Saturday over allegations that he used his Facebook account to circulate fabricated documents, edited photographs and manipulated audio clips targeting former MUDA Commissioner D.B. Natesh.

In the latest development, a fresh FIR has been registered against Snehamayi Krishna and former Bengaluru University professor Mylarappa B.C. following a complaint by Pavithra B.N. The FIR was registered on February 21.

According to the complaint, dated December 6, 2025, the complainant stated that on the evening of December 5, she received a letter at her residence. The letter allegedly contained defamatory statements about her late husband and her advocate Raghu, and referred to a complaint purportedly filed at the Mahalakshmipuram Police Station seeking reinvestigation into her husband’s death. She claimed the letter was sent by Krishna.

The complainant further alleged that, along with the letter, a threatening note was enclosed, pressuring her to withdraw cases filed against Mylarappa. The letter reportedly contained a mobile number and allegedly included threats and abusive language.

She stated that the actions of the accused have caused distress to her and adversely affected her children’s education, disturbed the peace at her residence and created fear for her safety.

Based on the complaint, police initially registered an NCR (No. 571/2025). Subsequently, after obtaining permission from the 24th ACMM Court, a formal FIR was registered against Krishna and Mylarappa for criminal intimidation and intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace. Further investigation is under way.

In October last year, the complainant had filed a case against Mylarappa, accusing him of stalking and harassment.
