At least four people are feared to have been killed and several others injured in a major chain accident involving a lorry, a bus, a car, and multiple two-wheelers on National Highway 50 near Danapur in the Hosapete taluk of Vijayanagara district on Sunday (April 19, 2026).
According to preliminary information, a garlic-laden lorry from Haryana, allegedly driven in a rash and negligent manner, first hit two motorcycles near a private company located about three kilometres before the main accident spot, injuring three people. The vehicle then continued at high speed, ramming into a car, a state-run bus, and at least three more motorcycles over a stretch from the outskirts of Hosapete near a tunnel up to Danapur. The lorry later overturned on the roadside, reportedly crushing another car.
