The groundbreaking and foundation-laying ceremony for a new Mission Shakti-One Stop Centre (Sakhi) building was held at the Community Health Centre (CHC) premises in Bheemunipatnam on Thursday.

The centre is among 11 new One Stop Centres sanctioned across the State and will provide women and girls facing violence, harassment, domestic violence and sexual harassment, with access to a range of support services at a single location.

Joint Collector G. Vidyadhari performed the bhoomi puja and laid the foundation stone for the building. The programme was organised by the Women and Child Welfare Department.

Ms. Vidyadhari said the One Stop Centre would provide medical assistance, police protection, free legal aid, psychological counselling and temporary shelter through coordination among the concerned departments.

She urged women and girls in emergency situations to use the 181 women’s helpline, 112 emergency services and One Stop Centre services. The new facility at the CHC premises would make protection and support services more accessible to women and girls in Bheemili and surrounding areas, she said.

Bheemili RDO K. Sangeeth Madhur, DCHS Narendra Singh, Bheemili Zonal Commissioner M. Vijay Kumar, ICDS project director Ch. Santoshi Kumari, ICDS nodal officer P. Jhansi, Bheemili tahsildar P. Rama Rao, Bheemili CHC superintendent M. Phani Kumar, Bheemili CDPO M. Sridevi, supervisors B. Nagamani and D. Anitha, and One Stop Centre administrator C.A. Sharanya were among those present.
