An awareness rally organised by the Thiruvananthapuram Railway Division being inaugurated by Divyakant Chandrakar, Divisional Railway Manager on Wednesday.

The Thiruvananthapuram Railway Division on Wednesday launched “Swachhata Hi Seva – 2025,” a fortnight-long special cleanliness campaign being observed across Indian Railways from September 17 to October 2. The theme of this year’s campaign is “Swachhotsav – Celebrating Cleanliness and Community Participation.”

Divyakant Chandrakar, Divisional Railway Manager, Thiruvananthapuram Railway Division, inaugurated the campaign at the Thiruvananthapuram Central railway station by administering the Swachhata pledge to officers and staff. Speaking after inaugurating the campaign, he emphasised the focus on transforming unclean spots, ensuring clean platforms, tracks, and trains, promoting eco-friendly celebrations, and linking cleanliness with public health and welfare.

A special programme was held at Thiruvananthapuram Central in association with NSS volunteers of University College, Thiruvananthapuram, and students of Karthika Thirunal Government Vocational Higher Secondary School for Girls, Manacaud, and railway staff. A session demonstrating the scientific working of bio-toilets drew appreciation from passengers, students, staff, and the general public. An awareness rally and Nukkad Natak (street play) by NSS students were held, highlighting the importance of cleanliness.
