Election authorities have formally filed a police complaint against the person who had applied for bulk deletion of voters in Musheerabad constituency under false declaration on Form-7, as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls.

The complaint followed instructions from Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharsan Reddy to all the District Election Officers for action against the applicants who have knowingly made false statement of declaration in the Forms 6, 6A, 7 & 8 under the provisions of the Section 31 of the Representation of People Act, 1950. The CEO also noted that such action should be preceded by an inquiry under Rule 20 of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960.

The complaint is reported to have been filed by the Electoral Registration Officer of Musheerabad Praveen Kumar Reddy, in the Chikkadpally police station, after enquiry into the instance. As it was a non-cognizable offense, police made an entry in General Diary and referred it to the court. Further action will be as per court direction, sources said.

The accused in this case named Balachander was reportedly a booth level agent (BLA) of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and he is said to have submitted applications for deletion of 31 members of the same family, including a Congress BLA.

The application forms were pre-printed with the names of the voters, which gave rise to suspicions and allegations that the forms were centrally generated by BJP and distributed to its BLAs for submission. The party leaders, however, refuted the allegations.

Later, similar forms with pre-printed voter information surfaced from Bahadurpura and Goshamahal constituencies, giving strength to the allegations. All the names mentioned in the forms were Muslim, leading to accusations about deliberate attempt to target the community. Similar stories emerging from other States fuelled the suspicions.

Claims and Objections phase of the SIR process comes to a conclusion on October 7, 2026, while the deadline for disposal of the same is November 5, 2026. Final electoral rolls will be published on November 9, 2026.
