Vijayawada woke up to a foggy morning on Monday (January 19, 2026), and an alert was sounded by the A.P. State Disaster Management Authority cautioning vehicle users to drive slow and use fog lights.

The fog disrupted flight operations at the Vijayawada International Airport in Gannavaram. While the Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam morning flight was cancelled, the schedules of other flights were also disrupted. On Sunday (January 18, 2026), too, there were flight disruptions as fog descended on the runway.

The city experienced dense fog multiple times in the past ten days. According to the India Meteorological Department, shallow to moderate fog is likely at isolated pockets over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, while fog or mist is likely at a few places over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema on January 20 and 21 as well.

The maximum temperatures, however, hover around 35 degree Celsius. As of 11 p.m., the maximum temperature in the city is 28 degree Celsius.
