Five people were killed, and two others sustained serious injuries after the car they were travelling in rammed a dumper truck on the Morbi-Halvad Highway in Gujarat’s Morbi district on Friday (June 6, 2026) night, police said.

The accident took place near Charadwa village around 9:30 p.m. when the dumper truck was crossing the highway, a Halvad police officer said. Seven people were travelling in the car. Three occupants died on the spot, while two others succumbed to injuries during treatment at a hospital in Rajkot later in the night. The two other injured were admitted to a Rajkot hospital and are reported to be in serious condition.

Police said a heavy excavator machine was deployed to bring the victims out of the mangled vehicle. The deceased were identified as Paresh Dhadheya (24), who was being taken from Ranchhorgadh village in Halvad taluka for medical treatment following a recent motorcycle accident, Premji Dhadheya, an AAP taluka panchayat member, Suresh Siroya (47), Viram Dhadheya (28) and Bharat Dhadheya (39). Further investigation is on.
