Five men accused in separate cases of sexual offences against minor girls have been convicted by courts in Hyderabad following investigations by the Women Safety Wing of the Hyderabad police. The convictions, secured in cases registered at Begumpet, Banjara Hills, Bhavani Nagar and SR Nagar police stations, were delivered by Sessions Courts and Fast Track Special Courts on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

The courts handed down stringent sentences, including rigorous imprisonment for life in a case where a father sexually assaulted his 12-year-old daughter. Another accused, a neighbour who assaulted a nine-year-old girl, was sentenced to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment, while a third was awarded 20 years for luring and sexually assaulting an eight-year-old. Two other cases involving sexual assault and attempt to rape of minor girls aged four and eight resulted in sentences of five years’ rigorous imprisonment each.

In addition to prison terms, the courts imposed fines and ordered victim compensation ranging from ₹2 lakh to ₹5 lakh, providing financial relief to the survivors under victim compensation schemes. Police said all the victims were aged between four and 12 years and were assaulted by people known to them, including neighbours, acquaintances and, in one case, a family member.

Following disclosure of the offences to their mothers or guardians, complaints were promptly registered and the cases were referred to the Bharosa Centre, where child-friendly procedures were followed during investigation and trial. The Bharosa Centre provided psychological counselling, legal assistance, medical support and continued follow-up to the victims and their families, despite pressure to compromise.
