The Kothamangalam police have arrested five persons on charge of assaulting a youth at Angadikkara near Kothamangalam.

The arrested are Ajith, 32, from Mekkappala, Kombanadu; Amal, 32, Sajjay, 20, and Alex Antony, 28, from Punnekkad, Keerampara; and Jishnu, 28 from Asamannoor.

They had assaulted the complainant, a youth from Punneppara, Keerampara, in the early hours of Monday in a suspected act of revenge, the police said. The complainant had questioned the accused for manhandling the organisers of a local Onam event, the police said.

The accused were nabbed by a team led by Inspector P.T. Bijoy.
