A major fire broke out in a plywood factory at Methala near Perumbavoor on Friday (December 26, 2025), causing losses worth lakhs. The machinery and raw materials at the facility were gutted as the fire spread all over the building.

No one was injured in the incident as workers ran out on seeing the sparks. The incident took place around 1 pm.

Eight units of Fire and Rescue Services were deployed to extinguish the fire. The exact cause of the accident was yet to be ascertained.
