Three people, including two children, were hospitalised after a fire broke out on one floor of a 25-storey residential building in Ghatkopar East on Friday evening (November 6, 2026).

The fire has been brought under control, with the police suspecting a short circuit as the preliminary cause of the blaze. No fatalities have been reported and the condition of all three in the hospital was reported to be stable.

Three people were reported injured in the incident. According to an update received from the on-duty Assistant Medical Officer (AMO) at 9.25 p.m., Sainath Awale (45) sustained 27% burn injuries and was reported to be in stable condition. Meanwhile, Dr. Rozbin of Zynova Hospital confirmed at 10.40 p.m. that two other injured persons, identified as Nirav Lodaya (34) and Rajesh Lodaya (47), had been admitted to the hospital. Both were reported to be in stable condition.

The incident occurred on the 23rd floor of the Royal Altezza building on Vallabh Baug Lane in Pant Nagar. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) received information about the blaze at 8.08 p.m.

The fire brigade initially declared a Level-I fire call at 8.30 p.m, which was subsequently escalated to Level-II at 8.52 p.m.

DCP (East Zone 2) Ganesh Shinde said that the fire started while the residents were using a drill to install fairy lights in their house for Deepavali, which triggered the short circuit. Now, the building will be shut till the Fire Department and the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited ask to reopen. The residents were requested to get food to eat and stay with neighbours or family in the city for the night.

According to the Chief Fire Officer, the blaze has been brought under control. One injured person was shifted to Rajawadi Hospital, where their condition was reported to be stable.

Two children who suffered from suffocation were taken to Zynova Hospital.

Authorities said the building had been evacuated as a precautionary measure. Fire brigade personnel were conducting a search operation to ascertain whether anyone remained trapped inside.

Personnel from the Mumbai Fire Brigade, police, the electricity distribution company, the Public Works Department (PWD) and the BMC’s ward staff were mobilised following the incident.

The extent of damage caused by the fire was not immediately known.
