The temple city of Tirupati reverberated with spiritual ecstasy on Wednesday in view of the twin Brahmotsavams currently under way at Srinivasa Mangapuram and Kapila Theertham temples.

The deity of Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy was dressed up as ‘Rajamannar’, mounted on ‘Kalpa Vriksha Vahanam’ along with those of His consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi, and carried around Srinivasa Mangapuram temple in a grand procession.

According to Hindu mythology, Kalpa Vriksha is a wish-fulfilling tree and taking a glimpse of the Lord’s procession on this carrier is believed to bring prosperity. Devotees shouted ‘Govinda Govinda’ during the procession.

In the evening, the deity was carried in a procession under a dazzling canopy called ‘Sarva Bhoopala Vahanam’. Dressed as Lord Krishna, the deity was shown slaying the demon Bakasura, represented as a crane.

On the fourth day of the annual Brahmotsavams at Kapila Theertham, the deities of Sri Somaskanda Murthy and Kamakshi Ammavaru were taken out on a procession on ‘Makara Vahanam’ amid Bhajan and Kolatam performed by artistes.

In the evening, the deities were taken on ‘Sesha Vahanam’, which turned out to be the cynosure of all eyes.
