A 45-year-old farmer died of electrocution after allegedly coming into contact with a live wire near an agricultural field at Soan village in Nirmal district on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Muthyam, of New Bopparam village in the district. He was on his way to his farmland on Sunday morning when the mishap occurred, according to sources.

He reportedly suffered a fatal electric shock after accidentally touching a live wire and collapsed on the roadside adjacent to a farmland. He is survived by wife and three daughters.

The Soan police registered a case and have launched an investigation.
