Bharatiya Janata Party Haryana president Archana Gupta on Sunday (June 21, 2026) demanded the immediate resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over allegations of insulting Sikh gurus and “orchestrating” a fake forensic report on a viral video.

Addressing a press conference in Narnaul, Ms. Gupta said the viral video showed CM Mann indulging in an act of disrespect towards Sikh gurus, adding that “the people of Punjab and the country will never forgive” it.

Ms. Gupta alleged that after the video surfaced, the Punjab government and police “exerted all efforts” to prove it fake. She claimed CM Mann later commissioned a fabricated forensic report to discredit it. “Orchestrating a fake forensic report to discredit a genuine video is a criminal offense. Punjab Police tried to secure a favourable report to shield Bhagwant Mann, but the Haryana government and Gurugram Police brought the facts to light,” she said, referring to the FIR and arrests made in Gurugram in the case.

Citing Sirsa resident and the complainant in the case, Jaspreet Singh’s revelations, Ms. Gupta said there was “pressure to generate a favourable forensic report” regarding the video.

Calling Punjab “the sacred land of Gurus and martyrs”, she cited sacrifices of Guru Arjan Dev, Guru Tegh Bahadur and Guru Gobind Singh. “CM Mann’s actions on this hallowed ground are extremely unfortunate and condemnable. Instead of seeking forgiveness, he is intent on suppressing the matter and labelling the video as fake,” she said.

Ms. Gupta also attacked the Aam Aadmi Party government for “failing to fulfil promises on financial aid, pensions and amenities for women”, saying they proved to be “election-time rhetoric”. She added that the Mann government had “betrayed Punjab and hurt religious sentiments”.She questioned why a fabricated report was needed if CM Mann himself was dismissing the video as fake, and demanded that the Punjab government clarified its role.

“The CM’s office commands dignity. Transparency and accountability must be top priorities. Bhagwant Mann has no moral right to remain in office,” she said.

Ms. Gupta also lashed out at Congress over Emergency, saying a party that “murdered democracy” had no right to speak on the issue now.
