Experts address issues of employability at management fest

A two-day State-level management fest ‘NIRBHIKAM 2K26’ was organised by the Department of Commerce and Management of Vidya Vikas First Grade College in Mysuru on February 19 and 20.

K.B. Lingaraju, president of Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industries (MCCI), who inaugurated the event, noted that Mysuru is emerging as a strong centre for technology, startups, and e-commerce, and that commerce and management students now have growing opportunities in fields such as social media management, e-commerce operations, fintech, banking, and MNC sectors. 

He encouraged students to make use of training, networking, and government-supported entrepreneurial programmes offered through the Chamber of Commerce.

Joint Director (In-charge) of District Industries Centre, Mysuru, T. Dinesh, spoke about the rapid transformation driven by Artificial Intelligence and changing global employment patterns. 

Referring to the growth of AI, he stressed that students must develop technological competence, pursue relevant online certifications, and bridge the skill gap to meet future market requirements. He advised students to utilise digital platforms, mobile applications, and data resources productively to enhance employability and innovation.

The inaugural programme was presided over by Kaveesh Gowda V., secretary of the Vidya Vikas Educational Trust. College dean Kiran Kumar Thoti and in-charge principal Basheer Ahmed M. were also present on the occasion.

The fest featured Best Manager, Management Quiz, Video Making, Treasure Hunt, and cultural events, attracting around 350 students from various colleges across Karnataka. The event was coordinated by faculty coordinators Nayanika P.V. and Revathi G., said a press statement here.
