National Engineers’ Day was observed at Andhra University on Tuesday with tributes to Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.

Vice-Chancellor G.P. Raja Sekhar, along with officials, paid floral tributes to Visvesvaraya’s statue at the University Engineers’ Office. He urged the Engineers’ Office personnel to focus on building durable structures and facilities that serve society, and called upon engineers to draw inspiration from Visvesvaraya’s life.

As part of the ACCESS-2K26 symposium organised by the Civil Engineering Department, former Principal Chief Engineer, Integral Coach Factory, Chennai, K. Dhanunjeya Rao said engineering played a key role in nation-building. He urged students to learn discipline and high values from Visvesvaraya and highlighted the engineering expertise behind major Indian Railways projects and railway lines in hilly regions.

Engineering College Principal K. Venkata Subbaiah said students should learn from Visvesvaraya’s simple living and high thinking. Civil Engineering department head C.N.V. Satyanarayana Reddy stressed punctuality, honesty and dedication.
