A male elephant made its way to Doddabetta Peak at Udhagamandalam on Sunday (April 12, 2026), resulting in the closure of the popular tourist spot in The Nilgiris.

Officials from the forest department said that the animal had made its way up the Coonoor slopes and up to Doddabetta on Saturday (April 11). Keeping in mind the safety of visitors, the tourist spot was closed for one day on Sunday.
