National Water Mission Director Nelapatla Ashok Babu, who is touring NTR district to assess progress of various Central government programmes, said that special efforts were being made to develop Penuganchiprolu and Ibrahimpatnam mandals.

He said that the two mandals were among the 500 mandals selected nationwide for overall development. The two mandals will be developed into model blocks under the Aspirational Block Programme (ABP), the official said, adding that Penuganchiprolu block achieved 100% progress in 25 out of 40 indicators.

The official added that the progress on all indictors is being monitored continuously and field visits were made to identify gaps and resolve them.

As part of the visit to Penuganchiprolu mandal, Mr. Ashok Babu went to a Primary Health Centre (PHC), planted saplings on the premises and reviewed the implementation of maternal health services, TB treatment, and the Ni-kshay Mitra campaign.

Later, he visited Sri Kakani Venkataratnam High School, interacted with the teachers and inquired about student dropouts, and measures being taken to bring them back to school. He also inspected an anganwadi centre.

The officer, meanwhile, advised farmers to make use of the various Central and State government schemes available for the livestock and agricultural sectors.
