Highlighting that education is the key to women’s empowerment, Andhra Pradesh Governor Syed Abdul Nazeer on Saturday advised the students to utilise the knowledge they learn in classrooms for the development of society.

At the 22nd convocation of Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) in Tirupati as the chief guest, Mr Nazeer presented degrees to 2,591 female students who completed their undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral courses. Of these, 121 researchers received PhD degrees, 99 received gold medals, and two got silver medals. The Governor also gave away books and cash prizes. DRDO former scientist Sasikala Sinha was conferred with honorary doctorate.

Addressing the students, the Governor said that graduation is not just a celebration but a triumph of knowledge, perseverance and ambition.

Congratulating the students who received degrees and medals, he said, “The support of family members and teachers is the key behind their success. Although the world is full of opportunities, there are responsibilities and challenges.”

“Educated women not only strengthen their families but also contribute to the development of society and the economy. There is a need for expertise in modern technological fields. In the rapidly changing world, students should study artificial intelligence, quantum technology, robotics, nanotechnology, Internet of Things and renewable energy,” he said.

The Governor said that the State government was taking key steps in fields of digital governance, skill development and technology, and as part of this, it was giving a priority to modern research by setting up a Quantum Valley.

Highlighting the improtance of green energy, Mr. Nazeer said that the role of universities was crucial in environmental protection.

The DRDO former scientist said that education plays a very crucial role in a woman’s life. “A woman, as a mother, teaches values to children at home, builds the future in the classroom as a teacher. Women should dream big, she said.
