The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has registered a money laundering case against suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) S. Bheem Reddy, following the Anti-Corruption Bureau’s (ACB) detection of disproportionate assets estimated at around ₹300 crore during searches in July.

The ED has begun examining the alleged money trail, including the ownership of properties, the source of funds used to acquire them and whether assets were purchased in the names of relatives, associates or suspected benamidars.

The agency is also looking into whether money generated through alleged corruption was routed through different channels and subsequently converted into properties and other assets.

Bheem Reddy, who was posted with Police Computer Services (PCS), was arrested by the ACB on July 6 from his residence at Vessella Meadows, Ibrahimbagh.

During searches at 16 locations linked to Bheem Reddy, his relatives and suspected benamidars in Telangana and Karnataka, the ACB reportedly found property documents and ₹3.6 lakh in cash at his residence. Another ₹40 lakh was found at the house of a suspected benamidar.

The searches also led to the identification of around 2 kg of gold, 20 kg of silver and bank balances of nearly ₹19.91 lakh.

The ED is likely to issue notices to Bheem Reddy after completing its preliminary examination. Persons suspected to have acted as his benamidars are also expected to be questioned as part of the investigation. Further action will be based on the findings of the probe.
