Ahead of the upcoming Eid Milad, St. Mary’s Feast and Ganesh Festival, the Bengaluru East Division police on Saturday held a coordination and peace meeting to ensure the festivals are celebrated peacefully and without any inconvenience to the public.

Eid Milad will be celebrated on August 26, St. Mary’s Feast from August 29 and the car festival will be held on September 8, and the Ganesha festival on September 14.

The meeting was held at Jalsa Banquet Hall, Pulakeshinagar, and was attended by Police Commissioner and senior officials from civic bodies as well. More than 250 people participated, including members of the Eid Milad Committee, St. Mary’s Basilica Feast Committee and various Ganeshotsava committees, besides religious leaders, public representatives and members of the public.

The police and officials discussed arrangements to ensure that all three festivals are conducted with mutual respect, brotherhood and communal harmony.

The officials issued instructions to take adequate precautionary measures, prevent untoward incidents, maintain law and order and minimise inconvenience to the public.

Representatives of different religious communities assured the police of their cooperation in maintaining peace and social unity. The police appealed to citizens not to believe or spread rumours and to immediately alert the authorities about any suspicious activity or incident.
