A 52-year-old man was held on Friday (January 16, 2026) after he drove a car in an intoxicated state and hit two pedestrians at different locations in the Miyapur, leaving both injured.
The accused, identified as Boda Venkanna, was driving a hatchback bearing registration number ‘TS 09 EO 8134’ when the incidents were reported around 9.30 a.m.. According to the Miyapur police, he was travelling from KPHP Nexus Mall towards Miyapur via Gokul Plots and was driving the vehicle in a rash and negligent manner.
The first accident took place near Gokul X road, where the car struck an unidentified pedestrian who was walking towards the junction. The impact caused bleeding injuries to the victim, who was immediately shifted to a hospital by passers-by for medical treatment.
A short while later, the same vehicle hit another pedestrian, identified as Madhava Rao, as he was attempting to cross the road in front of his general store. Police said Mr. Rao sustained multiple bleeding injuries in the collision and was also taken to hospital. A case was registered by the Miyapur police and further investigation is underway.
