Dr. NRS Government Ayurvedic College in Vijayawada has received permission to admit students for the 2026–27 academic year, bringing relief to aspiring Ayurveda students and ensuring the continuation of academic activities at the government institution.
The approval follows sustained efforts by the college administration and the AYUSH Department, which pursued the matter with the authorities while working to meet the requirements for strengthening the institution’s academic and clinical facilities.
In a press release on Thursday (August 27, 2026), Ayurvedic College Principal Dr. T. Bullaiah expressed gratitude to AYUSH Director Gopala Krishna and Health, Medical and Family Welfare Department Secretary G. Veerapandian for their guidance and support in facilitating the permission for admissions.
Dr. Bullaiah said the approval was an important development for the institution and would enable students to continue pursuing undergraduate education in Ayurveda at the government college. He also acknowledged the support extended by senior officials of the Health and AYUSH Departments in addressing the requirements connected with the admission process.
The college administration said it would focus on further strengthening teaching, clinical training, research and patient-care services while maintaining standards prescribed by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine.
The permission for admissions is expected to give a fresh impetus to the academic functioning and future development of Dr. NRS Government Ayurvedic College, one of the key government institutions providing Ayurvedic education in Vijayawada.
