A final year PG student, 27-year-old Deepika, who was pursuing Anaesthesia course in the Government Medical College, Vijayawada, died under mysterious circumstances.

A native of Anantapur, Dr. Deepika was staying at the PG Hostel. The doctor collapsed in her room in the wee hours and was rushed to Government General Hospital (GGH). She died on Thursday (February 05), while undergoing treatment, said Central Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) K. Damodar.

Machavaram Circle Inspector D. V. Ramana said the victim complained of stomach pain around 1 a.m. and her colleagues gave her medicine for pain relief.

“Deepika’s parents arrived from Anantapur. We are waiting for post-mortem report to know the reason for the death,” Mr. Ramana told The Hindu.

The Machavaram police registered a suspicious death case and are investigating it.
