District Medical Officers appointed in five districts

The Government has issued orders appointing District Medical Officers (DMOs) in five districts, including the appointment to a post that had been remaining vacant since the last seven months.

With the new appointments, all districts in the State now have District Medical Officers in place. The vacancies were in Malappuram, Idukki, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod.

Iype Joseph, Deputy District Medical Officer, Pathanamthitta, has been appointed DMO of Idukki; Vinod V., Superintendent, Tirurangadi taluk headquarters hospital, as the DMO of Malappuram; Sarithakumari L.T., Superintendent, District Model Hospital, Peroorkada, as the DMO of Kozhikode, Vivek Kumar R., Deputy Director in the Directorate of Health Services, as the DMO of Kannur and Rekha K.T., who was serving as DMO of Wayanad, has been appointed as the DMO of Kasaragod.

The DMO post in Kannur had been remaining vacant since November 2025, while other posts had fallen vacant over the past few months.
