A software employee lodged a complaint with Amberpet police alleging that a group of around ten unidentified persons attacked her family after being asked to stop bursting crackers outside her house late on Monday night.

According to the police, Sudha Patil, 27, a techie, her mother Nirmala Patil, and brother Amal Patil were targeted during the incident, which occurred around 11.30 p.m. on October 20 outside their residence at New Vinayak Nagar, Mallikarjun Nagar, Amberpet.

“The gang allegedly continued setting off fireworks despite repeated requests from the family to stop, creating noise pollution and nuisance,” said an officer from Amberpet police.

Ms. Sudha told the police that when she and her family tried to intervene, the group began hurling abuses and threats. One of the men allegedly threw a firecracker at them too. Her mother, Nirmala, who stepped out to reason with them, was reportedly slapped, while her brother Amal was hit in the face with a kada (iron bangle), causing bleeding injuries.

The complainant further stated that she too was attacked and verbally abused. Based on her statement, the police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to identify and trace the culprits.
