Dikshant Parade for the 77th Regular Recruit batch of Indian Police Service (IPS) officer trainees was held at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad on Friday (October 17, 2025), marking the completion of their Phase-I training. A total of 190 officer trainees, including 174 IPS officers and 16 foreign trainees from Nepal, Bhutan, and the Maldives, took part in the ceremonial parade. Among them were 65 women officers, reflecting the growing presence of women in police leadership.
Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF), Daljit Singh Chawdhary, the chief guest at the ceremony, congratulated the probationers for their performance and leadership during training. “This ground, steeped in tradition and sacrifice, has witnessed the making of generations of leaders in khaki. Today, it was your turn to step into that legacy,” he said. He commended Parade Commander Anjit A Nayar for leading the parade and praised the Academy’s faculty for shaping the next generation of police leaders.
Emphasising integrity and public service, he said the IPS must remain a people-centric force built on justice and compassion. “The police do not stand alone. Our strength lies in coordination with other security forces and in earning the trust of citizens. The police station remains the true reflection of your leadership,” he told the trainees.
He also reminded the officers of the physical and emotional rigour of policing. “Your duties are relentless, the hours long, and the pressures immense. But your health and fitness are your greatest assets. Only those who are strong and resilient can inspire their men and serve the nation with unflagging energy,” he said.
The Chief Guest also highlighted the importance of the new criminal laws now being implemented across the country, saying the batch would be among the first to enter service fully trained under the updated legal framework.
During the ceremony, several probationers were honoured for their achievements. Anjit A Nayar from Tamil Nadu received the Director’s Trophy for Best Probationer in Phase-I. Kirti Yadav from AGMUT cadre won both the IPS Association’s Sword of Honour for Best Outdoor Probationer and the Director’s Trophy for Best Lady Probationer in Outdoor Training. The BSF Trophy for Proficiency in Outdoor Subjects went to Rigzen Chophel from Royal Bhutan Police, while Mandhare Sohann Sunil from Telangana received the Director SVPNPA Trophy for Best Lady Probationer in Outdoor Training.
Other awards included the National Forensic Science University Trophy for Police Sciences to Aswini S (Tamil Nadu), the Manipur Cup for Law to Varan K Gowda (Nagaland), and the National Crime Records Bureau Trophy for Computer Studies to Manoj Kumar (Madhya Pradesh). The Director’s Trophy for Best Foreign Probationer was awarded to Sagun Khadka from Nepal Police.
After completing their Delhi attachments, the probationers will move on to district practical training for 29 weeks in their respective cadres before returning to the Academy on June 22, 2026, for Phase-II of their basic training.
