The Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA) will establish a Centre of Excellence for drones in Hyderabad, a move aimed at strengthening indigenous capabilities in unmanned aerial systems and positioning Hyderabad as a hub for military drone development.

The announcement was made by Additional Director General (Radar and Systems) R.A. Govardhan during a seminar on quality assurance strategies for military UAVs and drones, held at the DGQA technical complex in Secunderabad on Thursday.

Director General of Quality Assurance N. Manoharan, in his keynote address, highlighted the growing role of drones in modern warfare and stressed the need for robust quality assurance frameworks to ensure reliability in combat conditions.

Telangana’s Director of Aerospace and Defence, Praveen, also addressed the gathering, outlining the State government’s plans to expand defence manufacturing and leverage Hyderabad’s fast-emerging industrial ecosystem.

The seminar covered topics such as airworthiness, certification protocols, software verification and validation, and frameworks for security testing of military drones.
