Develop Jaladhara Parks in every mandal, says Collector

Visakhapatnam District Collector M. Abhishikth Kishore on Friday directed officials to develop one ‘Jaladhara Park’ in each mandal and intensify efforts to recharge groundwater under the State government’s Jaladhara–Jalaharathi programme. At a preliminary review meeting, he asked irrigation and DWMA officials to identify village tanks with water levels of 6–8 metres and undertake restoration to improve levels to below three metres. He stressed coordinated action across rural and urban areas, including within GVMC limits, and called for village-level action plans with community participation. Senior officials from multiple departments attended.
