Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan orders a comprehensive study on wildlife deaths in A.P.

Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Environment and Forests K. Pawan Kalyan has ordered a comprehensive study on wildlife deaths with priority to the protection of tigers, for which a high-level committee was constituted recently with Forest Department Advisor P. Mallikarjuna Rao as its chairman, and the Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Rahul Pandey as its member-convener. 

Mr. Pawan Kalyan has sought a detailed report on the management of animal habitats and protection measures and stressed the need for innovative plans to strengthen wildlife conservation, according to an official release. 

The Deputy Chief Minister instructed the committee to explore means to prevent human-wildlife conflicts, and study the impact of ground-level conservation programmes before submitting a detailed report. 

It was stated that the committee would closely examine factors contributing to the deaths of animals, the conditions prevalent in the habitats and anti-poaching measures and also cover the aspects of monitoring, forest fire control, and the availability of water sources and review of the current conservation programmes for tigers, leopards, elephants and other wildlife in order to identify ground-level challenges and propose preventive strategies. 

Besides, the committee has been mandated to prepare a special report on habitat development, expanding natural food sources, protecting wildlife corridors and fostering local community participation to achieve the desired results collectively.
