Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) leader G.K. Mani on Tuesday (December 9, 2025) said that the recent Delhi High Court verdict had been in favour of PMK founder S. Ramadoss, and the rival faction led by Anbumani Ramadoss had “nothing to do with the party.”

Speaking to reporters at Thailapuram near Tindivanam, Mr. Mani said that the founder would continue to lead the party, decide on alliances for the upcoming Assembly elections, and also get its recognition and symbol. He appealed to all PMK cadres, including those who had joined the rival camp, to “follow the path of truth and justice.”

Mr. Mani said that the party will get the ‘mango’ symbol back and contest the elections under it. Pointing out that the High Court verdict had brought to light the irregularities by the Election Commission of India (ECI), he said that Mr. Anbumani-led faction had misrepresented facts before the Commission. He said that Mr. Anbumani’s tenure was limited to three years and expired in May 2025, but he purportedly submitted forged documents claiming that a general council meeting held in 2023 was actually the one convened in 2022, thereby extending his term until 2026.

Referring to the communication sent by the ECI to Mr. Anbumani’s address in Chennai, Mr. Mani said that it was only a change of address due to misrepresented facts, and that the party would take up the issue.

He also called upon the ECI to ”remain neutral and vigilant” and not indulge in betrayal against any party, as was done “in the case of the PMK.” The ECI had erred in recognising Mr. Anbumani, and the faction led by Mr. Ramadoss represented the PMK, he added.
