Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who also holds Bengaluru City development portfolio, on Tuesday told the Legislative Assembly that he would soon convene a meeting of officials and legislators to look into the pending issue of some Arakavathi Layout allottees, especially land losing farmers, not getting sites in the layout formed by the Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) about 20 years ago.

Replying to a call attention notice tabled by BJP Member, Mr. Shivakumar observed that it was a matter of concern that some of those who have been allotted sites in the Arkavathi Layout, especially the land losing farmers who had been allotted sites as per norms, were yet to get sites.

“Due to various legal issues the sites allotted to some land-losing farmers do not exist. The Justice K.N. Keshavanarayana Committee is looking into the issue. I will soon call a meeting of all the officials concerned and the elected representatives to discuss the ways and means of resolving the issue,” he said.

Earlier, Mr. Muniraju alleged that the sites allotted to land-losing farmers were in possession of others due to various legal issues and problem of re-do (under which some lands notified for acquisition have been left out).
