A state-of-the-art data centre with the focus on “judicious use” of artificial intelligence (AI) in e-governance and digital inclusion will be established shortly in Jaipur. The new data centre will support the Rajasthan government’s efforts to promote innovation-driven growth with AI as a crucial component.

Union Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw made the announcement for setting up the data centre while addressing the Rajasthan Regional AI Impact Conference-2026 virtually here on Tuesday. The conference, inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, was held at the conclusion of the Rajasthan DigiFest TiE Global Summit.

Mr. Vaishnaw said the IT industry was a significant pillar of the national economy and India’s growing strength in technology and innovation had been recognised by the Stanford University’s 2025 Global AI Vibrancy Index, which had ranked the country third globally in AI competitiveness.

The Union Minister said a programme launched recently to train the youth in AI skills was benefiting a large number of youngsters in Rajasthan. He also announced a plan for imparting training to 5,000 youths in electronics manufacturing in collaboration with industry bodies in the State.

Chief Minister Mr. Sharma said the State’s newly introduced AI and Machine Learning Policy would help accelerate public service delivery, bring in transparency, and make it citizen-centric. “Rajasthan is working to position itself as an emerging technology hub through innovation, skilling and investment-led growth,” he said.

Mr. Sharma said the new policy would improve administrative efficiency and streamline cybercrime reporting and resolution. He announced plans to set up an AI Centre of Excellence, promote AI education in schools, colleges, industrial training institutes and polytechnic colleges, and establish advanced skilling centres to enable the youth to avail of new opportunities.

Union Minister of State for IT Jitin Prasada; State Industries, Commerce and IT Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore; Chief Secretary V. Srinivas; and a large number of young entrepreneurs, investors and IT professionals attended the conference.
