Dasara 2025: Special breakfast served to mahouts and kavadis

The Mysuru district administration served a special breakfast to the families of mahouts and kavadis of Dasara elephants at the Mysuru Palace premises on Sunday (September 14, 2025).

The breakfast delicacies comprised obbattu or holige, ghee, masala idli, vada, chutney, dosa, sagu, pongal and avarekalu upma, among other items. Minister in-charge of Mysuru district H.C. Mahadevappa personally served the delicacies to the mahouts, kavadis and their families on the occasion before he and other dignitaries participating in the programme joined them at the table.

Mr. Mahadevappa also inaugurated a temporary school set-up for the children of mahouts and kavadis on the occasion. He and the other dignitaries also watched the cultural programmes performed by the children of the mahouts and kavadis.

He also visited the temporary health centre set up in the Mysuru Palace premises and instructed the officials to ensure that the mahouts, kavadis and their families undergo regular health check up.

Former Ministers and MLAs Tanveer Sait and G.T. Deve Gowda, Deputy Chairperson Guarantee Schemes Implementation Committee Pushpa Amarnath, Chairman of Karnataka Exhibition Authority Ayub Khan, Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikant Reddy, City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, Superintendent of Mysuru district police N. Vishnuvardhan and Deputy Commissioners of Police, Mysuru viz. Bindu Mani and Sundar Raj were also present on the occasion.
