Hyderabad woke up to a rainy Wednesday (October 29, 2025) morning as light to moderate showers, triggered by Cyclone Montha, lashed several areas across the city. The cyclone made landfall on the Andhra Pradesh coast late on Tuesday (October 28, 2025) night before gradually moving inland.

According to data from Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), as of 9 a.m., BHEL recorded a rainfall of 6 mm followed by 5.8 mm in Rajendranagar, 5 mm in Golconda, 4.8 mm in Shaikpet, 4 mm in Khajaguda, 3.8 mm in University of Hyderabad, 3.5 mm in Madhapur, 3 mm in Bowenpally and 2.5 mm in Begumpet.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an impact based forecast for Hyderabad for Wednesday (October 29, 2025). “Light to moderate rains or thundershowers with intense spells at times accompanied with gusty winds are very likely to occur in the city. Mist or hazy conditions are very likely to prevail during morning and night hours,” the forecast said.

According to the national IMD bulletin issued at 8 a.m on Wednesday, the cyclone is likely to move northwestwards across coastal Andhra Pradesh and maintain its intensity of cyclonic storm during the next six hours and weaken further into a deep depression during the subsequent six hours.

The cyclone’s landfall triggered heavy rainfall across several districts of Telangana during the night of October 28 and the early hours of October 29. Data from the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) showed that between Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning, Uppununthala in Nagarkurnool district recorded a rainfall of 167.3 mm followed by 164.3 mm in Amrabad (Nagarkurnool), 139 mm in Ainole (Nagarkurnool), 136.3 mm in Vettur (Nagarkurnool), 135.5 mm in Achampet (Nagarkurnool) and 131.3 mm in Telladevarapalli (Nalgonda).
