Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to be alert to the likely impact of Cyclone Montha, which is expected to have a severe impact on the State for four days starting October 26 (Sunday).

In a teleconference with the district Collectors, Superintendents of Police and other senior officials on cyclone preparedness on October 25, 2025 (Saturday), Mr. Naidu said the Meteorological Department issued a red alert, and therefore the officials concerned should be proactive in mitigating the impact of the cyclone.

The weather system might intensify into a severe cyclonic storm and cross the Andhra Pradesh coast near Kakinada on October 28 evening with wind speeds reaching 110 kmph.

Therefore, precautionary measures should be taken to prevent loss of lives and damage to properties, the Chief Minister said.

Mr. Naidu said the cyclone might affect the entire coast from Srikakulam to Tirupati, and heavy rainfall ranging from 80 to 100 mm was anticipated. He directed the officials to be alert to the likelihood of floods due to heavy spells of rain.

Mr. Naidu instructed the Collectors to prepare special action plan for cyclone relief and to stay fully equipped with necessary resources

People residing in the coastal areas should be cautioned about the cyclone and evacuated to safety, and holidays declared to the educational institutions, if necessary, he said.

Further, the Chief Minister ordered continuous monitoring of the water levels in all the major and medium reservoirs and proper releases of water on the basis of real-time information.

He directed that the NDRF and SDRF teams be deployed for the sake of emergency response and hospital-on-wheels services launched in Kakinada.

The R&B, Energy, Irrigation, Municipal Administration, and Panchayat Raj departments must be alert to undertake relief measures, he added.

In-charge officers should be appointed for the districts that might be affected by the cyclone, Mr. Naidu said.
