Fishermen bring their boats to safety following alerts issued in the wake of cyclone Ditwah, at Kothapatnam seashore in Prakasam district on Sunday.

The authorities of Prakasam, SPSR Nellore, and Tirupati districts have cautioned public in the wake of cyclone Ditwah.
During a press conference at the ‘Ditwah Command Control Centre’ in Ongole on Sunday (November 30, 2025), Prakasam Collector P. Rajababu said that the administration is on alert after the Meteorological Department warned that the district will receive heavy rains on Monday and Tuesday due to the impact of the cyclone.
He said that the district administration is ready to face any situation that may arise. The cyclone is likely to affect 14 mandals in the district including Kanigiri, Kondapi, Kothapatnam, Marripudi, Maddipadu, Naguluppalapadu, Ongole, Pamuru, PC Palli, Ponnaluru, Santanuthalapadu, Tanguturu, Singarayakonda, and Jarugamalli.
District Special Officer Yuvaraj held a review meeting on Sunday evening with the district officials at Thikkana premises of the Collector’s office. He appealed to fishermen not to venture into the sea. He advised the farmers to postpone paddy harvesting for five more days.
SPSR Nellore District Cyclone Special Officer and Government Secretary Dr. N. Yuvraj conducted a meeting with officials on preparedness measures. Superintendent of Police (SP) Ajitha Vejendla, Joint Collector Mogili Venkateswarlu, District Revenue Officer N. Vijay Kumar and other officials participated in the meeting.
Tirupati District Collector Dr. S. Venkateswar instructed the officials of the relevant departments to prepare for the relief and rehabilitation arrangements due to the impact of the cyclone. He held a teleconference with the SP L. Subbarayadu, RDOs and relevant officials to discuss the relief measures and made several suggestions.
“Barricades should be set up with the help of police in areas where water flow is high to prevent people from crossing. People in low-lying areas should be evacuated to safe areas and rehabilitated. Cattle herders should not go to the fields to graze their cattle due to the possibility of thunderstorms,” he said, urging the people to stay home.
Electricity, panchayat raj and medical personnel should be alert for emergency services during the storm. Mr. Venkateswar said that the control rooms will be functioning round-the-clock for cyclone relief operations. SP L. Subbaraidu appealed the public to immediately dial 112 or inform the district control room on 80999 99977 in case of emergency.
