Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) (CPI (ML) New Democracy organised a protest in front of the collectorate in Ongole on Saturday (November 22) against the encounter of Maoists. It claimed that Maoist party leaders, who, it said, worked for tribal rights, were being brutally killed in the name of Operation Kagar, a military operation mounted by Indian security forces against Naxalite insurgents.

Chittipati Venkateswarlu, State spokesperson of CPI (ML New Democracy, urged the public to intensify their struggle against this operation.

Speaking to media persons, he said: “On one hand, the Maoists are being called for peace talks, asked to surrender and lead a normal life, while on the other, they are being tortured and killed. I strongly condemn the Home Minister’s announcement to make the country free of Maoists and Naxalites by March 30, 2026.”

He said “Hindu fanatic forces” were issuing threats that after the Naxalites, urban Naxalites in the country, too, would be wiped out. “Those in power can physically kill persons, but they cannot destroy their ideologies. As long as there is hunger, poverty, unemployment and destitution in this country, questions will be raised,” he said. He demanded that the Centre immediately cancel Operation Kagar and produce the arrested Maoists in court.
