CPIM stages protest over shortage of doctors, medicines at RIMS

CPI(M) Srikakulam secretary D. Govinda Rao on Monday staged a protest in the premises of the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Srikakulam over the alleged shortage of doctors, medicines and lack of infrastructure.

He alleged that the government had failed to appointment doctors in proportion to the number of patients at RIMS, the district headquarters hospital.

Speaking to media, Mr. Govinda Rao said that the hospital needed to appoint more cardiologists, nephrologists, general physicians and doctors in other departments, as RIMS was the only major government hospital in the district.

Mr.Govinda Rao urged the government to upgrade RIMS into a super-specialty hospital and upgrade its facilities to meet the requirements of the patients.

CITU leaders P. Tejeswara Rao, Ch.Amma Naidu and others were present.
