A couple was found dead on the railway tracks near Ghatkesar railway station in Medchal district on Thursday night. The Government Railway Police (GRP) have launched an investigation into the incident.

The deceased were identified as Ravikumar, 42, a rice trader and Shirisha, 33, residents of Papayyapeta village in Chennaraopet mandal of Warangal district. They were survived by their two sons, both minors.

Police said that the couple jumped before a moving train near the railway station late on Thursday night. Preliminary probe revealed that Ravikumar had invested a substantial amount of money in a business venture with a partner. Police suspect that a financial dispute between the two, coupled with mounting financial difficulties faced by the family after the investment, may have led the couple to the drastic step.

On receiving information from local residents, GRP personnel rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies and shifted them to a government hospital for post-mortem examination.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
