District Collector A. Shyam Prasad, along with Superintendent of Police (SP) S. Satish Kumar, on Tuesday inspected the ongoing construction of NH-544G (Package-2) between Vanavolu and Vankarakunta at Puttaparthi mandal in Sri Sathya Sai district, part of the Bengaluru-Vijayawada Economic Corridor.
Representatives of construction firm Raj Path Infracon Private Limited informed the officials that the company was attempting to set four Guinness World Records through the project. Chairman Jagadish Kadam said that the firm has set a target to construct a continuous 52-km bituminous stretch over seven days without interruption. The highway is being laid with an 11.5 m-width, three-lane carriageway, which translates to 156 km when calculated in single-lane terms.
He said the first record attempt would be the continuous bituminous road construction within a fixed timeframe, while the second would be to use the highest quantity of bituminous concrete. The company is also striving to achieve records for the longest road laid in 24 hours and for using the maximum quantity of bituminous concrete within a single day.
Nearly 600 workers and engineers are engaged in round-the-clock construction. The Collector assured full support from the district administration and emphasised the importance of timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
