Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma of NPP, Tipra Motha’s Pradyot Manikya and former BJP spokesperson M. Kikon on Tuesday (November 4, 2025) announced a new political entity for the northeast. Both NPP and Tipra Motha are allies of the BJP.

Addressing the media on the new political entity, Mr. Sangma said, “We have decided to work together for a distinct political entity for the northeast. We have formed a committee which will submit a report in the next 45 days. We are not here to fight any political party, our primary focus on people of NE. The idea is to give a single platform to people of NE.”

The Meghalaya Chief Minister said “Committee is mandated to reach out to other political parties.”

Mr. Sangma further stated that “The protection of land rights of indigenous people is a primary concern” and added that “Our parties are going to merge and become one political entity at the right time.”

Mr. Manikya said, “We want to speak for our people with conviction and truth. We may have different points of view but we are not at civil war. Efforts have been made earlier to create a platform. We are not here to pick up fights with anyone but fight for our rights.”
