  • Political conspiracy, says CPI(M)

The Congress office at Mathattum in Kolassery, Kannur, Kerala, was allegedly vandalised late on Saturday (December 27, 2025) night, with unidentified persons reportedly breaking open the shutters, damaging property and dumping party materials onto a nearby road and a creek.

According to Congress sources, the attackers broke open the shutter lock, destroyed ceiling sheets and fans, and scattered files and photographs, including one of Mahatma Gandhi. The party alleged that the CPI(M) was behind the incident.

Case registered

The Dharmadam police registered a case based on a complaint lodged by the Congress and launched an investigation. A team led by inspector P. Sreehari visited the spot along with fingerprint experts to collect evidence.

The Congress organised protests on Sunday and Monday condemning the attack.

Political conspiracy, says CPI(M)

However, the CPI(M) Vadakkumpad local committee condemned the incident, stating that “such acts by anti social elements should be viewed seriously.”

In a statement, the committee said it was doubtful whether attempts to link the incident to the CPI(M) were part of “a political conspiracy.”
